What's new in QuickField 4.2
In this new version you will find many improvements. New ways to define a problem, new ways to present
results - QuickField has became more friendly and convenient tool. You are welcome to try it right
now - download the Student's version. Here is a short list of main changes in QuickField 4.2 comparing to the version 4.1:
- Total Current (DC magnetics)
It is now possible to define the total current in the conductor as
well as the current density. For plane-parallel problems
uniform current density over the blocks is assumed. When
total current is specified for an axisymmetric problem,
you can also specify that the current density is
distributed inversely to the radius. The last option is
useful for modeling massive spiral coils, which inner and
outer radii are significantly different.
- Conductors Connected in Series (AC and DC magnetics)
Now you can define several conductors connected in series by applying
the same label to the whole group of blocks. In this case
each block is considered as a separate conductor carrying
the same current. This option is available if you have
specified the total current or the applied voltage.
- Export to DXF File (Model Editor)
The entire model or its selected part can be saved to DXF file.
QuickField as well as many CAD programs can read that
file later. This feature gives you the ability to
complete the life cycle of your project: from preliminary
sketch through modeling and refining to the final
version.
- Creating a new problem from the existing one (New Problem wizard)
It is possible now to create new problem from the existing one. This
means that all files comprising the model will be copied,
and all the options will be set to the same pattern. Then
you may change necessary parameters and leave all others.
This feature may be useful for the problems there the
limited number of parameters has to be changed
systematically (e.g. parametric design).
- Calculator Window (Postprocessor)
Local and integral values are shown now in a single Calculator
Window that is normally docked to the left side of field
view. The Calculator Window gives more consistent way to
operate with various postprocessor`s data. It supports
multiple selection and drag-and-drop capability with new
visual feedback. Look-and-feel is also improved (lines,
+signs and bold fonts)
Some local values (vectors, complex quantities) are shown in more details.
Integral values are automatically recalculated when you
change contour of integration.
- Family of wizards to automate integral calculations (Postprocessor)
New QuickField introduces wizards for calculation inductance,
capacitance and impedance of conductors. They simplify
calculating of project parameters and in some cases allow
avoiding manual creation of integration contour. All
the quantities calculated by wizard are stored in
Calculator Window. You can restart wizard from any stage
by double clicking corresponded item in values tree. If
possible, wizard gives you several ways to calculate the
desired parameter.
- Splittable View (Model View and Field View)
Each model view and field view now can be split in up to four panes.
This option is especially useful while defining small
geometric part, or analyzing the field picture in detail.
